The Baldwin girls basketball team beat Trinity 63-53 on Friday for their second straight section win.
Junior Lynsey Bernotas said the Highlanders did well executing their plan and playing together.
“We played very well, and stuck to our game plan which led to us winning,” Bernotas said.
Senior Bella Niles agreed.
“We all played very solid and worked well as a team,” Niles said.
Despite their loss, Trinity still managed to play a solid game, she said.
“Trinity did well pressing us for some of the game and got lots of second-chance shots,” Niles said.
This wasn’t enough to hold Baldwin off, however, as Bernotas played a strong offensive game, Niles said.
“Lynsey stood out. She scored 36 points and the other team could not stop her,” Niles said.
Sophomore Hannah Prilla also played a strong game, Bernotas said.
“Hannah Prilla did a very good job with getting offensive rebounds and getting defensive ones to help us run the court,” Bernotas said.
Niles accredited the team’s success this season to their discipline.
“We do well at taking accountability during the game and are quick to make corrections, which allow us to get good runs during games,” Niles said.
This win sets them at 6-1 for the season and 2-0 in section.
“It feels great knowing that we are winning most of our games and starting off strong because it brings us confidence,” Bernotas said.
Their next game is home at 6 p.m. today against Albert Gallatin.
