The Baldwin boys bowling team defeated Carlynton 7-0 at Legacy Lanes Wednesday night.
Juniors Cooper Sturges and Michael Quallich led the team by bowling 250 and 255, respectively. This is Sturges’ career high and comes after he had struggled in the last two matches.
“I had a good game, and so did the team. It was a good night.” Quallich said.
Baldwin built an early lead over Carlynton, going up 3-0. Sturges said that this gave the team confidence to play throughout.
Sophomore Joseph Renzi and junior Ethan Waldo also bowled well for the Highlanders, as they helped lead the team to victory last night. Renzi has had a great year for the Highlanders and seems to be a potential standout in the future.
Sturges complimented Carlynton’s competitive spirit.
“The other team was not the best, but they were good competitors,” Sturges said.
Though the team had a good night, they want to work on a few things before they play their next match against Neighborhood Academy on Jan. 7.
“We could’ve done better with splits,” Quallich said. “We can’t have that many splits in a match.”
The win puts Baldwin’s record at 2-1 on the season.
