The Baldwin wrestling team defeated Peters Township, 42-28, Wednesday night at home.
Junior Dylan Fleming played a key role in the victory, winning by pinning his opponent.
“The whole first period I didn’t get scored on,” Fleming said.
Fleming had to bump up a weight class, switching from 121 up to 126, but he said he thrived under the pressure.
“I did well on offense too, with never letting my opponent get the upper hand,” Fleming said.
Meanwhile, even though junior Mikko Krustron lost his match 10-5, he and the team were competitive with Peters.
“I was able to stay off my back well,” Krustron said.
The last time the Highlanders faced Peters, it did not go their way.
“We lost to Peters last year 55-17, which made us want this match even more,” Fleming said.
Though the team came out victorious, they have a few things they need to touch up on before their next match.
“We need to work on taking more shots and finishing out takedowns. It will be crucial for the next match,” Krustron said.
The team is looking to become the section champions this year and will do anything to make that happen, Krustron said.
Their next match is at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 7 at Mount Lebanon.
