The Baldwin girls basketball team defeated South Park on Monday, 42-31.
Senior Bella Niles feels the team didn’t play to its full potential, but did well in keeping up morale.
“We did well picking each other up. It wasn’t a great game, so we collectively realized that we just needed to do what we had to, and we did pretty well doing that towards the end,” Niles said.
Senior Laci Bernotas said Baldwin used its speed as an advantage.
“We sped them up because they were slower compared to us, and we kept pressure on the ball,” Bernotas said.
Bernotas said senior Jules Ott had a great game.
“Jules Ott was a standout because she really controlled the offense and was our top scorer. She got 12 points,” Bernotas said.
Niles recognizes the team’s mistakes.
“We need to be more patient and consistent with handling the basketball,” Niles said. “We did not play to our full potential. In the second half of the game, we tried to clean up our mistakes from the first half.”
The Highlanders are now 3-1. Their next game is at 6 p.m. Wednesday at home against Penn-Trafford.
