The Steelers on Sunday were practically blown out by the Bills, 26-7, in a game that featured Steelers fans booing the playing of the motivational song “Renegade.”
Head Coach Mike Tomlin has the Steelers at 6-6, so he is still on pace for another winning season, but just barely. This season would make it Tomlin’s 19th consecutive winning season.
But Steelers fans aren’t happy, because the team has not won a playoff game in almost 10 years. For the past four years the team’s record has consistently been around 9-8.
If Tomlin does not earn a winning season this year, fans will definitely force him out of his position. Fans are already calling for his head because of how many mediocre seasons they have had in a row.
On top of this, Aaron Rodgers created problems after their loss against the Bills, calling out his receivers for not attending film sessions and meetings. None of the receivers has responded to this claim yet. Fans of other teams have claimed that Rodgers ruins team culture everywhere he goes.
Rodgers also fractured his left wrist, which forced the Steelers to start backup quarterback Mason Rudolph against the Chicago Bears.
Seasoned veterans, including Jalen Ramsey and Cameron Heyward, have gotten into fights on the field, making the Steelers look childish while playing.
In Ramsey’s defense, Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase spat on him during the game, which caused his response. Heyward claims Bills quarterback Josh Allen purposely kneed him in the gut, which is why he started his argument.
The difference between the two is that Ramsey has video evidence that Chase did spit on him, while Heyward’s case does not have evidence and is just a claim, making Heyward look bad in the media.
The Steelers also have been dropping like flies, with the most recent injury coming to Patrick Queen, who went out against the Bills with a hip injury. This adds him to the likes of Alex Highsmith, Broderick Jones, and Derrick Harmon.
The Steelers have not won a Super Bowl since 2009 against the Cardinals, when the quarterback was still Ben Roethlisberger and Troy Polamalu was on the team.
A lot is on the line for the rest of the Steelers season, as fans believe that change is needed in all aspects of the team.
