The Baldwin ice hockey team lost to Shaler 6-3 last night.
Baldwin did well to control the first period, but their effort decreased throughout the game, sophomore Ryan Zeppuhar said.
“Our first period was amazing. We were dominating the start,” Zeppuhar said. “We need to improve our effort throughout the entire game.”
Shaler beat Baldwin by passing very well, while Baldwin needed to make better passing decisions, Zeppuhar said.
Junior Gio Falce said that Baldwin played very physically. The team could improve at taking more shots.
“We need to improve on shooting the puck more and our power play,” Falce said.
Baldwin did well to score on any rebound chance that they had, Zeppuhar said.
Senior goalie Zach Hunt kept Baldwin in the game, saving most of the shots Shaler took, Falce said. Senior captain Nate Buys also performed well, with the last goal of the game.
“Nate played a great game, and he ended up scoring on the chance that he had. He also had some great hits,” Zeppuhar said.
Sophomore Austin Klein had the first goal to give Baldwin their short-lived first-period lead. Zeppuhar also had a goal, his first goal of the season.
The team will face Norwin away on Monday at 7:10 p.m.
