The Baldwin ice hockey team lost 8-1 on Monday night to Penn Trafford.
Penn Trafford did well on offense, sophomore Austin Klein said.
“They were very strong when they forechecked,” Klein said. “They had us pinned in our zone a lot of the time.”
Penn Trafford is a more experienced team and they dominated the game, Klein said. Baldwin is a younger team that is still developing and has a difficult time handling pressure during games, he said.
“We need to break the puck out better in our defensive zone. I think we struggle under pressure at times,” Klein said.
Baldwin let Penn Trafford get a lot of shots off, sophomore Timmy Bush said. Despite that, senior goalie Zach Hunt did well to stop many of them, Bush said.
Freshman Radek Miklancie scored Baldwin’s goal, which was his first varsity goal ever.
“I was proud of him for that because he’s a defenseman, and it was a very nice shot from the point,” Klein said. “Not all freshmen get points.”
Baldwin got a lot of shots off, but did not capitalize on most of them, Bush said. Their record is now 2-4, which is still better than last year’s team at this time.
The team’s next game is Thursday at home against Greater Latrobe at 9 p.m.
