See that art? It’s free for the taking

BY TORI HOCHENDONER

Staff Writer

Those postcard-sized pieces of art posted around the school today are not just for show. They are yours for the taking, courtesy of the Art Honors Society.

The art society project is a small-scale take on the Free Art Movement, a worldwide program in which artists give away their art by placing it in random places and letting people take the work home to keep.

“The purpose of the Free Art Movement is to make people happy. Along with that, the Art Honor Society is using it to promote the Barnes & Noble book fair on Saturday,” art society officer Shelby Huebner said.

Huebner said the free art project is a great idea because a lot of students do not get the chance to showcase their work. So while the artwork is anonymous, the artists get to know that their art might have made someone’s day, she said.
