Special Olympics Club takes the plunge

BY KYRA KINZLER

Staff Writer

Taking the plunge into the Ohio River was even colder than some Special Olympics Club members thought it would be. Members, family and friends of the club took the freezing plunge on Saturday.

The Special Olympics Club was able surpass its fundraising goal for the event. They raised more than $3,000 through donations and pledges. More than 15 students and adults ran into the river for a cause they are passionate about.

“It was kind of not what I expected. It was a good thing to do, but it was a lot colder than I thought it would be,” senior Michael Bower said.

“I took one step into the river and wanted to turn back. I went completely under the water in for a total of 20 seconds, and it was worth it,” Bower said.
