Baldwin to be among first in area to host a TEDx talk

BY RACHEL FERRARI

Staff Writer

TED talks are generally reserved for the rich and famous, but Baldwin will be hosting its own TEDx talk this spring.

Speakers at TED talks explain important ideas, often in storytelling format. TEDx is a special subset of TED that includes schools, and Baldwin is one of the first in the area to participate.

Baldwin’s talk is being organized by English teacher Dr. Daniel Harrold.

“I originally wanted to do one with my students, but they suggested we open it up to everyone,” Harrold said.

Teachers, administrators, and students may apply to give one of Baldwin’s TEDx talks. There will be a student application in the winter to pick student speakers for the event.

There isn’t an official date set yet, but it is expected to take place around April, Harrold said.
