The boys varsity volleyball team competes during the spring sports season.

The boys volleyball team lost to Canon-McMillan Tuesday 3 sets to 1.

Senior Durwin Fuller thought that the game allowed the team to find ways to improve going forward.

“We need to work on finding the court when we are hitting and getting out of bad habits like early mistakes and service errors,” Fuller said.

Fuller said that despite the loss, the team performed better than expected.

“Everyone expected us to lose, but we shocked the other team with our skill more than they shocked us,” Fuller said.

The team hung with Canon-Mac throughout the match and never lost a set by more than four points.

Fuller said sophomore Alex Kelly had an especially strong performance yesterday.

“Alex had a lot of blocks and a lot of kills. He had a really strong performance overall,” Fuller said.

Fuller said he thought the Highlanders overall were very strong defensively.

“Our blocking yesterday was the best it’s been all year,” Fuller said.

The team has yet to win a section game, and the loss brings their overall record to 4-5.

Their next game is Thursday away against Bethel Park.
