Diggs trade turns Texans into Super Bowl contenders

The Houston Texans made a blockbuster trade today for Stefon Diggs after drama was brewing between the Buffalo Bills and Diggs.

At the start of the offseason, Diggs was looking to get a payday from the Bills, but they were afraid of paying the already aging wide receiver. He got frustrated with the team and demanded a trade.

Ex-football player Robert Griffin III said on the social media platform X on Tuesday that Bills QB Josh Allen would still be just as good without Diggs. The receiver responded with a simple “You sure?”

Fans might have thought it was just another superstar demanding a trade that would never happen, but the Texans swooped in and in a matter of minutes went from playoff contenders to Super Bowl contenders.

Diggs turns their receiving core of Nico Collins and Tank Dell into one of the best trios of all time. With CJ Stroud throwing them the ball, this team will have the most explosive offense of all time. The Texans only gave up a second-round pick, meaning they basically gave up a chance on a player for a proven star in Diggs.

This trade sends the Bills into a full rebuild, as earlier this offseason, they released their best defensive players in Tre’Davious White and Jordan Poyer. In the Diggs trade, they also gave up a fifth- and sixth-rounder, meaning the rebuild may have to wait another year or two to try and get back a player of Diggs’ caliber.

The Bills and Texans basically swapped places in the AFC standings after the trade, which lets fans know who won this trade.

This trade opens new windows for teams like the Dolphins and Jets as possible playoff contenders as their division, which was dominated by the Bills outside of last year, is now wide open. It shuts doors in the face of other rising teams like Jaguars and Colts, as they fall far behind the skill of the Texans.
