Baldwin boys baseball defeated Gateway, 12-1, on Thursday.

The boys started the game strong with a grand slam by sophomore Trey Alario. Then they maintained good hitting throughout the game, which Alario said is something they have improved upon.

“We did everything well, but overall I think our hitting was the best,” senior Dylan Lacher said.

Senior Jack Naret went three for three for the Highlanders.

“The other team had a good pitcher, but we hit really well off of him,” Alario said.

Senior Adam Degenhardt pitched a strong game, Lacher said.

Going into the rest of the season, Lacher and Alario hope to keep the team’s winning ways going by improving in a couple of aspects of their game.

“I think we could still improve on situational hitting and communication in the field,” Lacher said.

The team is slated to start the section games strong this week against Norwin, Lacher said. The first section game will be at home at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
