The Baldwin boys wrestling team competes in the 3A division.

The boys wrestling team beat Mount Lebanon 42-33 on Wednesday, with seven Baldwin wrestlers winning their matches by pin.

Seniors Keith Mincin and Andrew Sharp both came up with wins for the Highlanders. Sharp said each Baldwin wrestler did well.

“Even when it looked weak for us, we battled back,” he said. “We all had good nights to win the matches.”

Sharp noted that junior Ramil Islamov had a particularly good showing.

“Ramil is one of the best wrestlers we have,” he said. “He makes us all want to be better (when we’re) watching his matches.”

Mincin thinks the Highlanders still could improve in certain situations.

“We struggled fighting from our back,” Mincin said. “We need to do a better job recovering in those situations.”

The Highlanders next match is at 8 a.m. Wednesday in the Southmoreland Holiday Classic.
