Boys soccer defeats Montour in season’s final game

Junior Abison Dahal fights to keep the soccer ball in bounds.

The Baldwin boys soccer team won 2-0 against Montour Wednesday night.

Senior centerback/center defensive midfielder Dang Le scored both goals.

This game marked the end of the boys soccer season.

“It was definitely a rough journey but we stayed resilient despite the losses,” Le said.

Le commended the Baldwin team on their communication, teamwork, and outlook against Montour.

“We moved the ball very well and found runs behind their defense,” he said. Even though Montour went scoreless, Le said the visitors played well.

“Montour did a good job attacking our sideline and outside backs,” Le said.

Overall, Le said senior Mikey Fry played well during this season, and freshman Eli Schuchert has seen the most improvement during his first season of high school soccer. Schuchert also was the keeper for Baldwin during the Montour game.

“I’d say Eli is definitely a promising player,” Le said. “He has good hands and is pretty aware in the box.”

Le and Fry were named to the WPIAL Section 2 All-Section team, and senior Jake Kunzman also received an honorable mention.

“It’s definitely an honor to get all-section,” Le said.

The Montour game was a good way to end his senior season, Le said.

“It was nice just to get out there and take it in one last time. We definitely enjoyed the game and just had fun. Scoring two goals was the cherry on top,” Le said.
