Baldwin’s varsity girls soccer team competes in the 4A division.

The Baldwin girls soccer team defeated Belle Vernon 1-0 in a non-section game on Monday night.

Senior Emma Lieu, who scored the team’s goal, said the Highlanders remained aggressive throughout the game.

“We moved the ball pretty well and had strong communication,” Lieu said.

Lieu said sophomore Rowyn Rynearson was a standout player.

“Rowyn started on varsity for the first time, and she played strong the entire game,” Lieu said.

With the season coming to a close, Lieu said that the girls have improved on their field skills.

“We’ve improved on keeping the ball on the ground, passing to feet, and breaking the opposing team’s back (defense) line,” Lieu said.

The girls next game is today at Bethel Park High School at 7:30. P.m.
