Freshman Michael Quallich shot an impressive 75 in WPIAL golf section qualifiers on Thursday, earning a spot in the individual championship on Monday.
“I was happy with my performance,” Quallich said, though he added that he still wants to work on some aspects of his game.
Section qualifiers were held at Nemacolin Country Club. Golfers had to shoot 81 or lower to move on to the championship.
Quallich finished third in the section. He will golf Monday at Latrobe Country Club in the WPIAL individual championship.
Several other Baldwin golfers also did well at section qualifiers, although they did not reach the individual championship. Senior Sam Cipolla and junior Zach Auel both shot 90.
“A few of the guys and I missed by less than 10 strokes, which was definitely reachable if we played to our highest ability,” Auel said.
