Boys soccer loses to USC

Baldwin’s varsity boys soccer team competes in the 4A division.

The Baldwin boys soccer team lost 3-0 to Upper Saint Clair Thursday night.

This was the second section game of the season so far, and senior Collin Belan thinks the team still has work to do in order to be successful.

“We could do a better job limiting the other team’s best players. We know the other teams well enough to understand who they want to get the ball to and who can really damage us. It’s just a matter of finding a way to limit their impact on the game,” Belan said.

Senior Michael Fry also had ideas about how to improve.

“We need to do better on offense and have the whole team stay healthy,” Fry said.

Belan thought two Baldwin players stood out.

“Jake Kunzman and Will Penrod both had good games. They did a good job of leading our defense and limiting the other team’s chances,” Belan said.

Fry also saw things he liked.

“Defense played well, especially the back line. They did really well last night. We went in with a winning attitude, but we didn’t get the result we wanted,” Fry said.

The team’s current record is 1-3 overall.

Their next match is Tuesday night at home against Peters Township.
