The Baldwin Rocket League esports team beat Central Bucks West 4-3 in the state playoff quarterfinals on Monday.

Unlike previous, easier wins, the Highlanders had a much closer game than they are used to.

“The opposing team was definitely a little more skilled” than earlier opponents, Coach Nathan Elias said. “We had some trouble breaking down their defense.”

CB West’s defense was the biggest obstacle in the game, as they often had two players in goal at a time.

While they did struggle at some points in the game, in the individual matches that the Highlanders won, they won big.

The next game is against Avon Grove on Saturday. If the Highlanders triumph then, they will advance to the finals later on Saturday.

If they make it to the finals, a potential matchup is North Catholic, a team Baldwin struggled against earlier in the season. Despite this though, they are confident that they can win.

“We think we can take them,” Elias said.
