The cast and the crew of the spring musical Hairspray have been nominated for six Gene Kelly Awards, including best musical.
In the acting categories, Maggie Brooks has been nominated for best actress, and Greg Arcuri is a nominee for best supporting actor.
Baldwin is up against Plum and Woodland Hills for the best musical award. The other group nominations are for best ensemble, best scenic design, and best lighting design.
“After the show ended, I knew we had a fantastic musical, but the nominations add a new and different kind of excitement,” English teacher Michelle Jenkins said.
The award ceremony takes place on May 25 at the Benedum Center, where the cast will perform the finale number “You Can’t Stop the Beat”.
