The cross country team earned a strong non-section victory on Wednesday at White Oak Park.

The team faced McKeesport, West Mifflin, Elizabeth Forward, and Serra Catholic. The team combined for a 7-1 record, with the girls going undefeated and the boys only losing to Elizabeth Forward by one point.

Junior Macy Hale came in first place overall with a new personal best of 20:35.

“The team is doing really well early in the season, and I’m glad I can do my part to help,” Hale said.

Freshman Abby Joyce also had a very strong performance and will be a key part in upcoming section meets, Hale said.

Senior Mike Starzynski, a new addition to the team, continued to climb up the team varsity rankings as he finished with a time of 20:50.

“I’m really glad I joined the team and I expect big performances from my teammates and I as the season progresses,” Starzynski said

The teams’ next race will be held at Schenley Park as they host the annual Red White and Blue classic.

“The course is pretty tough course, but it’s always a fun day,” Hale said.
