The hits keep coming for the girls softball team, and as a result the Highlanders are moving on in the WPIAL playoffs.

Baldwin defeated Shaler 6-1 on Wednesday in the second round of the playoffs, earning a spot in the semifinals.

Junior Christina Madden liked what she saw in the Shaler victory.

“I’m extremely excited to see where we can take this,” Madden said.

Sam Wampler hit two home runs in the big win, Madden said, and sophomore Addie Tagg stood out both offensive and defensively.

The Highlanders were co-section champs this year, marking the third year in a row they’ve held the title. Madden knows this is special.

“Hopefully we can keep making this season last,” she said. “But I’ll never forget the memories we’ve made and the things we’ve achieved as a team.”
