With every high school student getting to use a Chromebook next year, the school is in search of students who are interested in technology to be a part of a student-run help desk.

Members of the student help desk will be expected to help with support for students’ Chromebooks. They will also provide technical assistance and training to students and staff members.

The student help desk will be offered before school, after school, and most periods throughout the school day. Students will be able to submit an online request or drop their device off to have an immediate fix on the issue.

The idea of a student help desk is part of the four-year technology plan presented by Director of Technology Dr. Janeen Peretin.

“The plan is about incorporating student voice and allowing students to utilize their skills,” Peretin said.

Students are expected to be picked before the start of next school year, and will be trained in learning basic G Suite management and how to repair devices.

Peretin is opening the positions to anyone interested in learning more about how the Chromebooks will be used in the classrooms.

“We are looking for students who enjoy technology and sharing their knowledge with students and teachers,” Peretin said.

Students who have an interest and skill set in technology, and can communicate well with others, have until May 31 to apply to be a member of the student help desk. Students can earn service hours for their work, Peretin said.
