Despite a 1-0 loss to Canon-McMillan on Tuesday, the boys baseball team is still in the playoff hunt.

Senior Anthony Rago pitched six strong innings, but the bats couldn’t get going around him.

“We played well overall,” Rago said. “We just couldn’t string any hits together to help us score some runs.”

Fortunately for Baldwin, Bethel Park, the team Baldwin is currently in a battle with for the last playoff spot, lost 11-9 to Upper St. Clair.

Bethel has three games remaining in its conference schedule and must lose one of the first two games, and also lose the season finale against Baldwin for the Highlanders to take the playoff spot. Baldwin must beat Allderdice and win that Bethel game.

The season could come down to a showdown against Bethel on the last day.

“We are very confident,” Rago said. “We are going to step up when we need to.”
