Second sacrifice squeeze bunt brings home a win against Bethel Park

The boys baseball team won in nine innings on Friday, beating Bethel Park 4-3.

Baldwin got a nine-inning complete game from senior Anthony Rago as he threw 97 pitches to get the win, and senior Mike Silvestre had a sacrifice squeeze bunt for the second straight game to give Baldwin the lead. Rago then shut it down in the ninth.

“We played solid defense all game and were able to battle and outlast Bethel,” Rago said.

Senior Peter Griener agreed and added his own take on the game.

“We started off good with a run in the first inning,” Griener said. “We scored two more in the second inning to give us a 3-0 lead after two, then the bats died down for us.”

Rago commended Silvestre on his second straight squeeze bunt.

“Mike came up big again with another suicide squeeze,” Rago said. “This great win would go a long way towards making the playoffs.”
