Highlander Pride starts up again

The first winners of the newly redesigned Highlander Pride Awards have been announced.

The Highlander Pride program honors students and staff who stand out in one of eight categories: School Spirit, Community Service, Creativity, Extra Effort, Role Model, Leadership, Responsibility, and Most Improved.

The program previously ran monthly, but after a short absence, it is now back as a quarterly program. Students can be nominated in any category. The first Highlander Pride ceremony will be held March 23.

Science teacher Mike Bruckner nominated senior Alana Martucci for her participation in school events.

“Big thanks to Mr. Bruckner. I really appreciate being nominated,” Martucci said.

Video production teacher Brad Schulte nominated senior Ryan Milan for creativity with the videos and his help with the morning announcements.

“The work I do is appreciated by every faculty member through thanks. I never expect any awards,” Milan said.

The other winners are: Audrey Eisel, Dom Giorgianni, Rajesh Gurung, Arlen Hooks, Kaitlyn Joyce, Santino Liberto, Nick Cortazzo, Zoe Vongtau, and Natalie Weida.
