The student council will be honoring area resident Gus Direnna with the quarterly Baldwin’s Finest Award this Tuesday.

Direnna was nominated by senior Marisa Manning. He is in charge the Narcotics Anonymous program at Fairhaven United Methodist Church.

“I nominated him because he is very active in the community and helps addicts get clean,” Manning said.

This is the second year of the Baldwin’s Finest program, with one ceremony being held every nine weeks to recognize a standout citizen in the Baldwin-Whitehall community.

Direnna’s commemoration will be the third one this year. About 30 people are expected to attend the event, which will be held after school in student council sponsor Karl Geisler’s room.
