After two years, Big Sean has released his fourth studio album, I Decided.

Sean takes a major detour from his past music with a more serious and mature vibe.

In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, the rapper said, “The album is basically a chance to have that wisdom of an old man while you’re young, and going through life to figure it out.”

A new connection with God is clear in many of the songs.

In “Sunday Morning Jetpack,” featuring The-Dream, Sean starts of the song by saying, “Thank you God for all my setbacks ‘cause he the reason I’m able to give back.”

He also dedicated a song to his mother, “Inspire Me,” telling her how proud he is to be her son.

As well as being a solo artist, Big Sean is part of a duo called TWENTY88 with his girlfriend Jhené Aiko. She features on one song. Elsewhere, artists such as Jeremih, Eminem, Migos, The Flint Chozen Choir, and Starrah also make appearances.

His collaboration with Eminem is something unexpected but definitely will be appreciated by fans. Eminem hasn’t recently released new music, so seeing him on this track was a surprise.

Although many of the songs face real issues or adopt mature tones, tracks like “Bounce Back” and “Moves” keep in touch with Sean’s old sound.

As a whole, the album is reflective of Sean’s past, but optimistic for the future.
