Gyros lack something more innovative

Some things never get old, but Mike & Tony’s Gyros & Shish is beginning to look middle-aged. The building looks old and beat down, and this trend continues inside the building. The bathrooms are filled with graffiti, and the counter and equipment look aged. As for the food, the portions are just right; customers leave the restaurant with a full belly, but not feeling like they are about to explode. Some places, like Gali’s Gyro and Grill and Sparta gyro, have larger portions, which some people love, but more often than not it is just too much food to handle. Mike and Tony’s offers a lighter cucumber sauce, unlike places like Gali’s, which uses a thicker sauce. Mike and Tony’s also uses thinner slices of meat than most gyro places. Their fries leave a little to be desired, but are decent if drowned in ketchup. Overall Mike and Tony’s is a nice place to stop when in the area, but it is not worth an extra trip down East Carson street. There are many gyro restaurants that are much closer, easier to access, and give more for the money. Overall, it has good food, but the parking is difficult especially at a busy time. It is not very clean looking, and the workers are not very welcoming.
