Girls volleyball falls to Bethel Park

The girls volleyball team got swept 3-0 on Tuesday night by section rival Bethel Park.

Junior Emelia Zandier, a defensive specialist, said all of the sets were very close, but the team needs to do more.

“I think there wasn’t enough communication,” Zandier said.

Even though the Highlanders lost, they came back from a big deficit in one of the sets to almost win, and the energy was really high in the gym, she said. Senior libero Abby Wagner played well and had some nice passes and serves, Zandier said.

But the loss was a big blow for the team, as Baldwin came into the match with a better record.

“We learned that we need to start coming together as a team if we want to win,” Zandier said.

The volleyball team now has a section record of 3-3. They play at home tonight against Peters Township in a big game in the playoff race.

“We have to win tonight,” Zandier said.
