The Black is Asking Alexandria’s fourth full-length album, but it is their first with new vocalist Denis Stoff. It didn’t take long for Stoff to get started with Asking Alexandria; when previous vocalist Danny Worsnop left the band in early 2015, the band already had in mind who their new vocalist would be. The Black offers a nice mix of the band’s old sound while also giving Stoff a chance to show his own style of metal. Some highlights on the album include songs such as “The Black,” “Let It Sleep,” “Lost Souls,” “Sometimes It Ends,” and “Circled By the Wolves.” The album doesn’t just include heavy songs; it also includes one or two rock ballads. “Send Me Home” allows Stoff to showcase that he can do more than scream – he also has the ability to sing fantastic lyrics. The Black is an all-around excellent album and a great debut album for Stoff with Asking Alexandria.
