The girls softball team defeated Carrick 19-0 on Tuesday, powered by junior Sam Wampler’s home run and grand slam, coupled with senior Anna Hale’s shutout pitching.

Wampler praised sophomore Carly Santillo’s game behind the plate.

“Carly threw out two girls at second,” Wampler said. “It had our adrenaline running.”

Santillo then gave the praise right back to Wampler by commenting on her game-ending double play.

“Sam made a double play to end the game and it was just a great ending to a great game for us,” Santillo said.

The girls turn around to play Canon-McMillan today in a home game at 3:30 p.m.

“They lost to Mt. Lebanon earlier in the season and we beat Mt. Lebanon, so we feel that is a good gauge to use for today’s game,” Wampler said.

On a side note, the girls’ bus broke down on the way home from the game Tuesday and all the parents had to come pick them up.
