As the third season of Invincible draws to a close, fans are looking forward to key moments in the comic book being adapted.
Invincible’s alien DNA makes him super strong and gives him flight, powers his father’s empire seek to tame and use to conquer other planets. Mark balances his life as Invincible with his personal life.
Invincible has made several distinct decisions that separate it from its comics counterpart. This is not to the show’s detriment, but it is notably changed. This allows for comics fans to look forward to iconic moments while enjoying the differences between the two mediums.
This season is a new era for Invincible, made apparent by his new black and blue suit, losing the iconic yellow on his outfit. His brother, Oliver, has also joined the fight, donning a super-suit of his own and a namesake referencing their controversial father, Omni-Man.
This season contains many major life changes for the supporting cast, like his now-girlfriend, Atom-Eve, and his mother, Debbie Grayson. Also important is his relationship with GDA Director Cecil Stedman.
Debbie has moved on from Nolan’s betrayal, spending time with a new boyfriend, Paul. Eve and Mark’s relationship develops, too, with the pair founding Invincible Inc. together as Mark and Cecil’s working relationship deteriorates.
The main villain of season three is a returning and scorned Angstrom Levy, who wants to make Mark pay with the power of the multiverse. As previously confirmed and seen in season two, the Marks of the other universes are not nearly as kind and heroic as the Mark Grayson the story follows.
Despite the inclusion of the multiverse in these last two seasons, Invincible still manages to differentiate itself from the soulless cash grabs that have passed for Marvel movies recently.
Besides the rising threat of Angstrom Levy, Mark must look forward to the Viltrumite Empire, which stands ready to destroy his livelihood upon their arrival.
