The Baldwin girls basketball team defeated Albert Gallatin in a section matchup on Thursday night, 74-27.
Sophomore Kelsey Meyer said Baldwin competed well.
“We did a good job sharing and moving the ball around quickly to get off layups and open shots,” she said.
Meyer said senior Mary Vargo helped Baldwin throughout the game on offense and defense.
“She had many assists during the game to help create our big lead,” Meyer said. “She also was always hustling around getting the ball back on defense.”
Meyer credited Albert Gallatin for competing the whole time.
“They never stopped playing hard throughout the game and hustled until the very end,” she said.
Although the Highlanders won by a large margin, Meyer saw areas where the girls could still improve.
“We need to focus on making our layups and talking more on the court to each other, both on offense and defense,” she said. “With working on what we need to improve on, the season should get better.”
The team’s overall record is 4-6, and their section record is 1-2.
The next game is at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at home against Uniontown.
