The Baldwin unified bocce team defeated Bethel Park in the season finale on Wednesday.
Baldwin’s first team defeated Bethel Park in both sets, winning 4-3 in the first and 6-1 in the second. The Highlanders’ second team split the two sets they played.
Freshman Ryder Yeckley said the team did well throughout the season, including improving communication.
“Our team, we’ve improved on communication as that was a big problem on why we lost three games in a row at the beginning of the season,” Yeckley said. “Now we are communicating stronger and listening to each other for strategies and advice.”
Yeckley said the seniors brought a lot to the team.
“They played really well and made a lot of memories this year,” Yeckley said. “We were happy for them.”
There are still a few things the team wants to work on, Yeckley said.
“Sometimes we need to improve on taking our time,” he said.
The team is hopeful to be in a playoff spot, but they have to wait for the results from another team’s match this week to find out.
