The Baldwin ice hockey team was defeated by Central Catholic 6-3 on Thursday.
“We should have taken more shots,” junior Trevor Brain said.
In addition, one of the team’s standout players is hurt.
“The biggest challenge is that (sophomore) Nate Buys is injured,” Brain said.
Still, Buys’ injury is only part of the struggle, as Brain cited the need for more players on the roster.
“The low numbers get us fatigued early,” Brain said.
Despite the outcome, the Highlanders still managed to perform well in some areas. The team managed to shine during the power play, scoring two goals.
“(Junior) Logan Cramer really stood out. He had a goal, an assist, and blocked some shots,” Brain said.
Blocking shots is important and is something the team must do more often, Brain said.
“We have to clear the view for the goalie,” Brain said.
The Highlander’s next game is at Pine-Richland on Monday.
