Baldwin’s softball team picked up its first win in a 8-4 victory over Butler on Friday.

Sophomore second baseman Ryley Shaw said she feels great about the victory.

“It feels really good to get our first win because we worked really hard for it and it finally paid off,” Shaw said.

Shaw feels that the Highlanders played a complete and well-rounded game.

“Our energy stayed the same throughout the whole game and we took advantage of all the opportunities we could,” she said. “Butler played good defense, but we found the gaps around them.”

Shaw said Baldwin had great pitching.

“Anna Schumacher pitched a very good game and that was key to our victory,” Shaw said.

The team hopes to build off of this victory.

“Hopefully we pick up some more wins throughout the end of the season,” Shaw said.

The Highlanders will take on Mt. Lebo at 6 p.m. Tuesday at home for the senior rec game.
