The Baldwin girls softball team loses after a hard fought game against NA.

The girls softball team lost to North Allegheny 8-1 on Wednesday.

Sophomore Kaylee Smolko said North Allegheny had timely and consecutive hitting.

“They hit really well. They’re a big hitting team,” Smolko said.

Senior Grace Schumacher said the Highlanders still had strong moments.

“I think my sisters Anna and Maddy played really well. Anna’s pitching was good and Maddy made a very good catch too,” she said.

The team believes they need to improve their mindset going into and during the game.

“I think we need to be there in the game more mentally and support each other more,” Grace Schumacher said.

Smolko agreed.

“We definitely need to have more confidence and energy,” Smolko said.

The team wants to work on their defense for future games.

“We think our defense needs a little more improvement,” junior Anna Schumacher said.

Their next game is on Monday against Hempfield.
