Canon-Mac comes back to defeat baseball team

The boys baseball team lost to Canon-McMillan Thursday, 8-6

The team started off the game strong with a lead.

“We had a four-run lead for most of the game and played pretty well,” junior first baseman Dylan Lacher said.

Senior outfielder Christian Forgacs said he could not identify just one player responsible for the offensive output.

“It was a team effort to score all of our runs,” he said.

Forgacs said in the top of the fifth, the team lost the lead with some slip-ups that Canon-Mac took advantage of.

“Canon-Mac had some of the same opportunities that we did in that game. The only difference is that they capitalized on those and we just slipped with the lead,” Forgacs said.

Lacher said the Highlanders suffered from struggles that have continued since the beginning year.

“I think we could improve on hitting with runners in scoring position. It was a big problem yesterday, and has been a problem throughout the year,” he said.

The team has three games left against Mt. Lebanon and still have a chance to make the playoffs.

“I have hope until they say we are done for,” Forgacs said.

The next game is at 4 p.m. Monday at Wallace.
