The Baldwin Outdoor Track and Field team competes in the spring season.

The Baldwin boys track team lost one and won one at a meet on Tuesday, while the girls lost both.

The boys beat Upper Saint Clair 119-30 and lost against Mt. Lebanon 87-66, while the girls lost both, 104-36 and 94-66.

Although the girls lost to both other schools, the 4×100 relay team did a good job in keeping their speed up with the other team, junior Angelena Gromo said.

The 4×100 boys team, meanwhile, helped earn the victory over Upper Saint Clair for the boys.

“Everyone tried to run their hardest,” Gromo said.

Junior Mwango Kasuba said the distance runners had a strong day.

“The distance runners did really well. They had a lot of depth in every event,” Kasuba said.

Freshman Tanner Zalar congratulated senior AJ Cherico on his hard work throughout the meet.

“He did a really good job at catching up with everyone else at the end of his race,” Zalar said.

Mount Lebanon had overall faster runners, contributing to their wins, Gromo said.

Both the boys and the girls team need to work on staying focused during practices and keeping their spirits high.

“We can definitely improve on our attitudes and stay positive,” Gromo said.

The next meet is an invitational at South Fayette on Saturday.
