Girls softball lost to Pine-Richland 12-8 on Friday.

Sophomore Gabby Jaquay thought the team generated some good offense. The Highlanders started out strong in the beginning before falling behind.

“We hit well,” Jaquay said.

Sophomores Ryley Shaw and Kaylee Smolko stood out during the game, Jaquay said.

“Ryley and Kaylee had multiple hits, which helped us,” Jaquay said.

Smolko believes that the team needs to work together to be successful.

“We have to be a team on and off the field,” Smolko said.

The team is currently 0-12, but Smolko hopes the team will be able to make some changes to secure their first section win. Their next game is at home today against Norwin.

“We have not had practice since the last game to work on as much as we would like, so we just have to go out and play our hardest,” Jaquay said.
