The Baldwins boys and girls track and field team posted big results in their meets against Thomas Jefferson on Thursday, with the boys winning 98-52, and the girls winning 120-30.

Athletes from both the boys and girls teams posted some of their best results yet, junior Mwango Kusuba said.

The Highlanders dominated the running events.

“We did best in the relays for sure,” junior Shea Ferrari said.

On a day with many strong performances, some stood out.

“Freshman Olivia Shellman stood out most to me. She did really well in relays and performed well overall,” Ferrari said.

One event both teams want to continue working on is the 400.

“I think our 400 event needs to be improved on going into our next section meet because Lebo has really good mid-distance runners,” Kusuba said.

Ferrari agreed.

“We could improve more on our 400 event, since many people could run it but choose not to,” she said.

The boys and girls teams face off against Mount Lebanon and Upper Saint Clair on Tuesday.
