Television shows based on novels are usually judged to be inferior and underdeveloped. The Netflix series The Night Agent is an exception to this stereotype, as it almost exactly follows the storyline of the novel.

The plot follows an FBI agent, Peter Sutherland, as he learns the ropes of his new position.

Within the White House basement lies a secret room that simply holds a phone that undercover spies call in case of an emergency. Sutherland is in charge of answering the phone, and one night he answers to Rose Larkin. Together they begin solving bombings, kidnappings, shootouts, mysteries, and even absurd surprises.

The Night Agent puts a unique twist on the usual FBI agent show in that there are no boring scenes. The plot is well developed as well as intricate; it is one of those shows that make viewers want to continue watching.

Although the characters could be developed more, the unfilled backgrounds and pasts leave room for more expansion in a future season.

The series has been approved for a second season by Netflix.
