The Baldwin girls softball team loses after a hard fought game against NA.

The softball team fell to Canon-Mac 5-4 on Wednesday, continuing a losing streak for the Highlanders.

Sophomore second baseman Ryley Shaw feels that the team struggled in the field and that is what caused them to lose.

“We were head-to-head the entire game, but they started hitting and we couldn’t field well enough to hold them,” Shaw said.

Canon-Mac stayed poised under pressure and doing that carried them to a win.

“They fielded well and made lots of nice plays under pressure,” Shaw said.

Despite the loss, Shaw felt that the Highlanders still did some things well, and some even better than Canon-Mac.

“We hit the ball well and even outhit them,” she said.

It was a hard-fought game by both teams but the Highlanders were still disappointed.

“It was a good game but disappointing to lose by one run,” Shaw said.

The next game will be Friday at 4 p.m. against Butler.
