Senior Braden Yokopenic has earned his second straight trip to WPIALs for boys singles tennis.

Yokopenic faced off in four games over Tuesday and Wednesday to qualify.

“My best match was against Shady Side’s best player, which I won, 10-3. This was one of the best matches I’ve played in a long time because I knew winning this match meant I qualified for WPIALs.”

Last year at WPIALs, Yokopenic was dealing with a shoulder injury.

“I still participated, but I was not able to play to the level I normally could,” he said.

Making it back to WPIALs means a lot, he said.

“It feels good to make it back to WPIALs. It shows that I am able to compete at a high level of play even after my shoulder surgery.”
