The Baldwin girls softball team plays at the 6A level.

A big comeback effort by the girls softball team fell short on Wednesday, as the Highlanders lost 9-8 to Peters Township.

While Baldwin had a good start, Peters then took a big lead. Still, the Highlanders were able to tie the game.

“Our team did really well coming back from 8-1. Towards the end of the game, we tied 8-8,” junior Kiera Platz said.

Peters got the last run, though, and took the win.

Still, the team had a positive spirit throughout the game.

“We worked together as a group and we all cheered each other on,” junior Anna Schumacher said.

In their next game, the Highlanders hope to stay consistent with their play.

“I hope we can come out strong in the first inning and continue to fight,” Platz said.

The team plays Saturday against West Mifflin.
