Champions, a new movie featuring Woody Harrelson, is a well done comedy with many heartfelt moments.

The main character Marcus (Harrelson) used to be a minor-league basketball coach, but after outbursts and disruptive behavior, he loses his job and is sent to court.

Marcus is sentenced by the judge to do community service by coaching a basketball team for the intellectually disabled. At first Marcus is not thrilled about coaching the team, but with the help of Sara (Kaitlin Olson), over time he manages to improve the team and reach the championship.

Harrelson presents the development of Marcus’s character perfectly. He first displays Marcus being egotistical then transitioning to becoming more humble and accepting as the film moves forward.

This movie is not only humorous, but well made. It offers a good message about how truly capable people with disabilities are.

Overall, the storyline along with the balance between comedy and heartwarming scenes makes for a great film.
