The St. Elizabeth’s CYO basketball team, consisting of many Baldwin athletes, won its second straight championship game on Sunday.

The Lancers defeated Sacred Heart, 69-45.

Last year, despite winning the championship, the team struggled with the regular season. Senior Matt Fry said the players changed their mindset this year to boost their record.

Fry reflected on this being the last season for many of the players.

“We had a different mindset going into it this year because this is the last season we’ll play organized basketball with each other,” Fry said.

Fry said the team was well balanced, with many members on the team pulling their weight.

“Dylan Wyse was one of our main scorers, Michael Leonhardt and Gavin Poe were always getting rebounds for us, and Michael Migale was a great shooter,” he said.

“We had a really good season this year, especially since it’s the last for many of us,” Fry said.
