British singer-songwriter Raye does not disappoint with the long-awaited album My 21st Century Blues.

Raye brilliantly executes a different genre of music in each song, providing variety to her album. The music ranges from contemporary and slow, in “Oscar Winning Tears,” to a fast with a techno-like beat in “Black Mascara.”

She also incorporates electronic-style hip-hop in her music in a way that is not outdated or overdone.

Released shortly before the album, the song “Escapism” garnered much attention on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, and it gave her first Number 1 hit in the United Kingdom.

She represents the current generation of pop artists in a positive light, with her music reflecting real-world issues. In “Body Dysmorphia” she states, “And I don’t really like my body /

But knowing it’s my only body,” accurately summarizing the struggles of those with disordered eating.

She is an underrated artist among those of this generation. Her music is versatile and conveys a different mood in each song.

With this album and her single going viral, this marks the start of her strong career.
