Shah Rukh Khan returns to Bollywood in “Pathaan”

Shah Rukh Khan, a famous Bollywood actor, has acted in many romance films over his career despite his initial interest in action movies. After a four-year hiatus, he has returned to the industry in Pathaan.

The movie opens after India revoked the part of its constitution that had granted special status to the contested areas of Jammu and Kashmir. A Pakistani general who is suffering from cancer, named Qadir, seeks revenge by working with a terrorist group called Outfit X.

Pathaan (Khan), who is in charge of a unit called Joint Operation and Covert Research, heads over to Dubai with his team to stop an attack on India’s president. During this fight with Outfit X, the terrorist leader, Jim, is revealed to be a former Indian government agent who had faked his death to get revenge for his late wife and child.

As the movie and the fight with Jim progress, the characters face unique challenges and situations.

Overall, the storyline and plot are exciting. The events are not heavily overcomplicated yet it is still hard to predict what is going to happen next.

The actors themselves played their roles well, considering most of them have been in the film industry for a long time. Some notable names are Deepika Padukone, Salman Khan, John Abraham, and Dimple Kapadia.

The special effects, however, have room for improvement. There is a lot of somewhat noticeable green screen and effects usage that takes away some of the realism.

The film is rated PG-13 and is available in theaters or on streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime.
